Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Wesley Stripes

Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Wesley Stripes:

Two months before his arrival at our shelter, Wyoming tom cat Wesley Stripes, born in October of 2009, befriended OUR friend Janet Wilson (lucky for him!). Janet looked after him and made sure he was cared for, all the while waiting for an opening at Crash's; somehow her email to us fell through the cracks. On July 22nd, she noticed that the poor fella had a huge swelling under his right eye, and contacted us as he surely needed our help. We felt just awful that we weren't on top of our game, though we gets dozens of emails every day, sadly. We got him right in to the clinic for medical care that very same day.
Surgical exploration of the swelling revealed a subcutaneous abscess, not from your typical cat fight, but rather a thorn that had punctured the skin, which healed over, trapping the little bugger. Removal of the foreign body, flushing of the tissue, and infusion of a long-lasting medication was just what the doctor ordered, and within just a few days, the swelling was next to nothing and Wesley was feeling so much better (and looking much more foxy too!)
Janet had nicknamed him Stripes, which I thought was cute, but this cat has SO much purr-sonality simply oozing out of his pores that I felt he needed two names to encompass all that he embodies in spirit. (Plus, have you ever seen Wesley Snipes' cheekbones?) He is such a silly, comical little cat that loves to be underfoot, always grabbing your attention both literally and figuratively, with his crazy antics! He is a people-cat and a cat-cat, and he has made fast friends with our other brown-boy newbies, Digby and Remy. He is kitten-like AND puppy-like, the best of both worlds, and just so much fun to be around! He incorporates so much joy into his daily life that it brings a smile to my face just watching him BE who he is. I cannot wait to find this fabulous feline a fur-ever home of his own, where he can have fun 24/7 and then some!!
