Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Tamarack Jack

Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Tamarack Jack:

When our Director of Cat Care befriended yet another handsome stray in her West Side neighborhood, no one was surprised:) What did take me aback a bit was that, when we took the cat in, he had a microchip... and a previous owner... who didn't want him back! Seems that these folks had taken him in as a stray in the summer of 2009, had turned around had given him away in October of the same year, without taking a name or number of his new owner. And his new owner, who proved to be as crappy as they come, started letting him out immediately, since Julie saw him traipsing around the neighborhood in October, with no collar or tag. She started feeding him and offering him a refuge, but at that time he preferred to enjoy his freedom. Winter came and he hid out for the most part, but come March (2010), he was back again and Julie was pissed; she set up a refuge on her porch and he took the bait!
So on March 4th, Tamarack Jack (born in November of 2008), as we dubbed him, came into the program here at Crash's. He was a filthy, injured, matted mess who should never have been left out to fend for himself and not given the care and hospitality he deserved. Makes me SO mad when people toss these poor cats out and ignore them! He certainly was one happy camper once he set foot in our place, making many, many friends and soaking up all of the TLC bestowed upon him like a breath of fresh air! He is one super-sweet, mellow fellow with a charm about him that makes him even more appealing. Why anyone in their right mind wouldn't want this cat is beyond me, but their stupidity is going to allow a wonderful family to take Jack home and spoil him rotten!
