Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Sherbet

Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Sherbet:

Imagine our utter surprise when our doorbell rang on the Sunday before Thanksgiving 2008, about 7 pm. It was dark and dreary out, and our volunteer went to the door to find a carrier with a cat inside. Cold and frightened, I promptly drove on over to retrieve our latest unannounced delivery to take her home. I found, to my sheer surprise, not one, but TWO cats huddled up tight. Out hesitantly came 2-3 year old dominoed darling Sorbet, and behind her, the trembling black beauty Sherbet (named by us of course).
Now upon closer exam at the clinic the next day, I discovered that both girls had been spayed, and Sherbet had been front declawed. I can't be certain they are related at all, but they got along swimmingly well, so that was a plus. Besides some flea dirt, both girls appeared remarkably healthy. Why their owner dumped them off on our doorstep will never be known, and thankfully we had the room to spare at our place, or we would have had no choice but to take them to the Humane Society, as once our cages are full, there is no more room at the inn.
Both girls adjusted very well, and both turned out to be very outgoing, extremely friendly, funny little cats. Sorbet has since been adopted, but Sherbet is still looking for a home.
It never ceases to amaze and dumbfound me when wonderful animals such as Sherbet are discarded like yesterday's news. But someone's loss has definitely turned out to be our gain.

Can't adopt, but still want to help? Find out how you can sponsor a cat!
