Our featured cat for
Purrfect Friday: Scarpetta
Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Scarpetta:
In February of 2009, Louise Swiatek came across this handsome, albeit a bit
bedraggled, boy while looking after a feral colony up around Bostwick Lake
in Rockford. When she took him in to be TNR'd and he tested positive for
[Note: he also tested positive for
in July of 2010], she enlisted our help to get him off the lake and into
a safe haven. Born around August of 2006, we think, this guy has sure had
some tough times, as evidenced by the battle wounds on his face. He came
to us with a post-op infection, an avulsed nail (torn completely off), and
just a filthy fella, but sweet as pie on the inside.
Scarpetta is quite an independent cat who knows what he wants and likes to
exercise his freedom. He seems to be getting along quite nicely with the
other cats at Sids, and that is no easy feat at times, as we have lots of
opinionated males (all neutere,d of course) to contend with. But, he lets
things slide off his back and doesn't seem worried in the least. He is really
enjoying all of the creature comforts we can provide for him here at Sids,
and is starting to fill out nicely now that he has unlimited food.
Thanks to Louise, he also has a second chance, as FIV-positive cats cannot
be returned out to the wild where they can inadvertently infect other cats
by fighting. So Scarpetta is safe and sound with us now and we are happy
to have him with us!!
