Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Sage

Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Sage:

All of our strays are victims of human irresponsibility, but some cases are just blatant examples of disrespect and neglect. When our volunteer Jenny Pullen contacted me the end of March, 2011, it was because a friend of hers had evicted his tenants and then discovered that they had simply left their cats behind. He remembers the folks having the cats with them for at least two years, so it baffles my mind that someone would just up and leave their pets behind; then again, if you are irresponsible enough to not pay your rent and get booted out of your home, I can imagine that caring for your cats is low on your list of priorities.
In any case, I am delighted that we were able to help the two girls who were left behind, because they certainly will end up in a better place because we truly care about their well being for the long haul! Born in the spring of 2007 we estimate, sisters Sage and Cherokee were a bit shy at first - and who can blame them. Sage was the first one to warm up to us, and once she did, she was all about hands on loving and TLC, which she rewarded us with purrs that rivaled a motorboat engine! She is also very fond of the other felines and has taken a fancy to one or two very charming furry fellas since she arrived. She is a total doll that just oozes charm, so I do not think she will be with us for very long!
