Our featured cat for
Purrfect Friday: Panera
Panera is a handsome fellow who loves to be held, loves to snuggle. It is hard
to imagine why someone abandoned him, or stole and then dumped him, but that's
what happened. Back in March of 2008, a black van with a covered-up license
plate pulled up behind Crash's Landing. Two men got out, and, laughing, dumped
a large box out of the van, then drove off into the night.
Later, a volunteer heard scratching in the back of the building while washing
dishes. She figured it was raccoons, so she got a few other volunteers and some
flashlights to investigate. They found that that box contained three more boxes,
and inside those three boxes were six filthy, sick, malnourished, frightened
cats. Panera was one of those six cats.
Well, Panera recovered from his ordeal, and now he is an absolute "love sponge".
He was adopted last fall during our Open House, but he was brought back because
he didn't get along well with the other, rather boisterous, cats already in the
house. Panera would do well in a home with either no cats or with cats who are
a bit laid-back.
Panera is probably about seven or eight years old. He's had to have a number
of teeth removed because of his poor treatment before coming to Crash's, so
he is often found with his tongue sticking out.
