Purrfect Friday: Moon Pie
|
Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Moon Pie:
Volunteer Lindsey Ruffin spends a great deal of her spare time, when not in school, trying to get stray cats off the streets of neighborhoods her friends live in; so it didn't surprise me one bit when she went after a friendly duo hanging out on the south side of town in September, 2011. In that particular Alger Heights area, homeless kitties run rampant, and she couldn't stand it a minute longer, so she took matters into her own hands...and ended up catching this too-adorable-for-words fella! Moon Pie, born in March of 2010, suffers from terminal cuteness (it is a bonafide medical condition), and I tell you what, it has really been a problem for him since his arrival at our Sanctuary! He gets oohed and aahed at ALL of the time, volunteers don't want to put him down, so he gets carried around like a baby, AND to top it all off, he is constantly being sought out for photo ops!
OK, seriously, he is totally fabulous; it is a darned shame that he contracted FIV while he was out and about for who knows how long, because he would be so easy to adopt out if he were virus-free. Now that is not to say he won't be scooped up and taken home, because we do have an awesome adoption record here, but it does make things a bit more challenging. Since he doesn't have a mean bone in his darling little body, he is not at risk of transmitting FIV to another cat, and he loves the company of other furry friends, which is yet another added bonus to add to this boy's attributes. And his little smush face makes it hard not to reach over and pinch those cheeks, but I will resist and settle for some good old fashioned snuggle time!
Thanks to Lindsey, Moon Pie is now living on cloud nine here at Big Sids. And we are so thrilled to have such a fine fella in our midst!
