Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Madge

Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Madge:

When one of my clients came to me on April 26th, 2012, with an painfully-thin and weak cat from their neighborhood, it was because her so-called owners had abandoned her, having given up on being any bit responsible when they let her go missing for 4 months and did nothing to find her. So when she came staggering back to my client's house, where food is always set out for the strays in the area, they scooped her weak, filthy little body up and brought her in to me. Born in the spring of 2009, Madge (as I named her) was an emaciated mess who initially appeared much older than her 3 years due to the poor condition she was in. But thankfully radiographs showed no orthopedic abnormalities, and once she was well fed and bathed, she perked right up and started sassing me as only a calico can!
Madge is a prima donna, it is true; like most calicos I have come across, she is very opinionated and outspoken (I swear those traits are genetically encoded into their DNA!). But she is also very charming, gentle and wants nothing more than to be the center of your universe. She will dance towards you with such energy and enthusiasm, just waiting for the chance to become the apple of your eye, to be caressed and cooed at, to be appreciated and loved. She is so darn sweet when she wants to be that I can excuse her color-coded cat-itude:) After all, she just wants what they all do...human companionship; Madge just wants you all to herself!
I am looking for a specific type of home for this girl who had been left to wander aimlessly for months on end, searching for something that no one was willing to give her. I want her to feel secure, to be doted on, to reign supreme as queen of the household; to spend her days and nights lounging lazily on a cushy bed covered in overstuffed pillows that she can virtually sink down into and disappear! She will repay the favors bestowed upon her 100-fold, with unconditional love and affection, as she will only have eyes for YOU; you will become her world:) THAT is what I want for Madge more than anything!

Can't adopt, but still want to help? Find out how you can sponsor a cat!
