Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Langston
|
Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Langston:
On January 28th, 2009, we took in an interesting cat from Steve Ritsema, who had found him alone and wandering about his NW side neighborhood. Fully intending to acclimate him to his own household, Steve was quite dismayed when Langston (as we named him) tested positive for the Feline Leukemia virus. Euthanasia was not an option for Steve to even consider, thankfully, so he contacted us.
Langston initially proved to be a bit of a challenge, as even though he was as sweet as pie with us humans, getting him to play nice with the other cats was difficult. So Langston had to hang out for a bit in a nice big cage, while the others got to float about around him, letting him get used to the fact that he was a part of a very large group, and that if he wanted to make friends, all he had to do was drop the attitude. It only took about a week before Langston decided it was better to be out and about, roaming and having a good old time, than grumping and growling for no apparent reason while sitting up on his perch:)
Lanky and loud, Langston (born in January of 2007) is an unique looking fella that I think sports a bit of Siamese in him (THAT may explain the cat-itude:) Thanks so much to Steve for giving this guy a second chance - he deserves it! Also a big thank you to volunteer Jacob Stahl who also took a liking to this very unique fella and is supporting him financially as well, as well as our new friend, Jack Sleutel!
