Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Hercules
|
Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Hercules:
Back in the spring of 2011, Ann Faber's co-worker befriended a wounded stray tom cat that kept hanging out on her porch; seems he would come by daily, then run off when approached, but once he became wounded, he started warming up and became open to the idea of being rescued. But, once he tested positive for FIV, the gal decided that she didn't want to risk exposure to her cats (even though biting is the ONLY way this virus is transmitted, and Herc doesn't have a single mean bone in his masculine 16.5-pound body, so she sent him to live at Noah Project. However, this rescue really doesn't have the facilities to house FIV kitties and the poor guy was caged, much to his dismay. This is where Ann stepped in by contacting me and asking for help in housing this loveable boy. It took us awhile to get him in to the program, as the need for housing for these kitties is at an all time peak in our area, but finally on October 4th, we were able to open our doors and welcome Hercules in as one of our own! Ann herself got quite attached to him while arranging for his medical care and transporting him to us, so it was bittersweet for her when she left him with me at the clinic. She didn't have to worry about her fine fella though, as he was ready, willing and able to become a Big Sid's Kid! Born in October of 2008, this gorgeous guy could not have acclimated more easily or been happier about his new living quarters. From the get go he was gallivanting around, meeting and greeting the other cats, and making himself right at home! He is extremely social, exceptionally charming and an all-around fabulous boy! While reading about Herc and all of the other wonderful kitties we have at our sanctuary, please consider adoption of and FIV or Feleuk cat as a viable option. These cats have so much love to give and are some of the most affectionate cats we have in our rescue. Consider coming down to meet these cats and I guarantee you that you will fall head over heels in love, and will be utterly amazed at how happy and healthy these cats are!
