Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Eeyore

Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Eeyore:

Oh bother:( No one bothered to care for this forlorn fella's ears until it was too late! And by the time Carla Carpenter had noticed he had a quirky look to him due to his floppy ears, the damage had been done and was irreversible.
Born in October of 2008 I think, Eeyore spent about 3 months hanging around Carla's house with two other strays in tow; but when Carla got a closer look at them this October (2011) and noticed he was digging the bases of his ears raw, she knew she had to get him medical attention, as no one else was doing it.
Well, it was no surprise that he was suffering from a nasty case of ear mites and a secondary ear infection. It was actually so severe it had caused him to shake and scratch his head, rupturing the blood vessels in the ear flaps, forming at first hematomas, then the resultant cauliflowered ears you see here in his picture. However, I was able to get the infection under control and get Eeyore feeling 100% better; he may look funny, but he feels FINE! It is too bad he had to suffer so much before we got him and is permanently disfigured, but in no way does this make him any less appealing or attractive; in fact I think the misfits tug at our heart strings even more!
He is very affectionate and gentle, and surprisingly is not head-shy in the least; in fact, good old fashioned ear and face rubs are among his favorite things to enjoy! And he is REALLY enjoying life here at Crash's as you can imagine, where he is spoiled rotten:) He chums around nicely with the other kitties and rather fancies a few as snuggle buddies too. Overall, he is going to be a wonderful addition to a family who can offer him all of the creature comforts he has become accustomed too here with us - he deserves all the best, don't you agree? Thanks to Carla for looking after him when no one else would, and thanks to you all for taking time to find out more about our Crash Cats!!
