Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Dee-Lite

Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Dee-Lite:

She may look like a Scottish Fold, but sadly Dee-lite's ears are a product of neglect and infection, not fancy breeding. Hanging out in a semi-feral colony around Gold and Bridge streets on the west side, this little dear (born in March of 2009) had a really rough and tough life before volunteer and rescuer extraordinaire Alana Slipchuk made it her mission to befriend Dee-lite and bring her on in to safety. It took Alana a while to win her trust, then a few months inside in a spare room to let this poor girl know that happy days were here, and that she wasn't in harm's way any longer.
When Ms. Dee arrived at the clinic on April 4th, 2012, she was a sorry sight, all crumpled and curdled, laden with long-standing infection that ruptured her ear drums internally and turned her ear flaps to a grizzled mess. And as if that weren't enough, she was suffering from significant dental disease resulting in quite a few extractions. But, she perked up remarkably after I alleviated the pain and discomfort she was feeling. She is still very head-shy, which is understandable given her condition for who knows how long, but as time goes on she is warming up to our touches and is relaxing enough to actually enjoy the TLC bestowed upon her.
Dee-lite is going to need to be placed in a very quiet, subdued, laid-back environment. She will probably thrive living with another cat, as she was used to being in a group of felines, but I feel one or two humans, tops, will be best for her. A soothing hand, a gentle voice, a lap of luxury and a cozy blanket to hunker down in is really all this girl wants, and to be loved, unconditionally. We can provide this all for her while she is with us, but let's face it, Dee-lite would delight in having a home to call her own, her very own.
